It is a government body that has worked as a subordinate of the Ministry of Transport Malaysia since 1969. It was previously known as the Department of Civil Aviation. Then DCA became the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia on 19th February 2018 under the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia Act 2017 [Act 788]. It regulates the safety and security of civil air traffic in Malaysia, establishes laws, enforces rules, and inspects all aviation-related accidents.
