Foreign License Validation

The 10-easy-step License Validation Guide will guide you quickly through the application process

Foreign pilots’ licenses are subject to verification and validation because they are not considered tamper-proof. If the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) did not verify the validity of your license, this would leave the door wide open for fraud. Therefore, you should complete the FAA Verification of Authenticity form online at least 3 month before traveling to the United States. Sometimes it may requires more time to process, depending on the origin of your license,

Once the FAA has received this confirmation, it will send a “Verification and Authenticity Letter” to the FSDO office that has jurisdiction for our flight school and to you either via email or regular mail, depending on how you have submitted the documents to the FAA. Usually Florida Flyers will receive a copy, if BOX 4b was filled out.

Step 9

Our FAA Designated Examiner will issue the Restricted Foreign Based Certificate to you.

Step 10

You will complete the required Biennial Flight Review BFR with one of our Flight Instructor along with the required checkout flight.

When and how to apply for the letter of authenticity

  • Due to the high volume of applications received at the FAA AFS 760 Office, new applications will be processed in the order they were received.
  • We recommend to apply for the Letter of Authenticity about 3 month before you travel to the U.S.
  • Unfortunately the FAA AFS760 Office does not allow to expedite the process. Alternatively you may like to obtain a Stand-Alone U.S. Private Pilot License as your previous flight time will be recognized towards FAA training requirements. Please contact our Associates for further information.
